House Hunting

The convenience of Georgia Tech housing is definite.  It’s so close to all your classes, you can run home in between classes.  The security is a definite plus, especially in the middle of Atlanta.  The RA’s are amazing and there’s a lot of community building events.  The internet is top quality.  We get over 100 TV channels.  The utilities cost is fixed.  There’s even already some furniture, maintenance people to help with brakes and leaks, and two fridges!  But do we really need all that?  That way of living gets expensive… and I mean really expensive.  I would recommend living on campus to any freshman or sophomore, but as you get older, it’s just not as necessary.   John and I did the math, and we can save over $2000 a semester by moving off campus (factoring in utilities, parking, internet, everything)… and we get to keep our cat ^_^.

John and I plan to move off campus starting in the summer and we found the perfect little house for rent.  It’s the perfect size, the perfect color, the perfect distance from campus.  I love it’s plants and flowers, the little white picket fence.  I desperately want it… but can’t get it just yet since we’re locked in by contract for GT housing.  …. hopefully we’ll find a way.

Hiking Through the Desert

October 2, 2009 at 7:04 am (CoC related, Student Organizations) (, , )

Yay for hiking through the desert!  lol.  It was a lot of fun and I wish we could have stayed longer.  So it wasn’t actually “hiking through the desert” like you’d think in movies with dunes of sand.  There actually wasn’t any sand at all.  We were in Tucson, Arizona.  It was strangely breathtakingly beautiful.  :)

The sun was in the perfect spot that day.  When I was little, I wanted to be a professional photographer, but after getting a little older and realizing that that wasn’t really a practical career path, I settle for just enjoying the little moments I get to be artsy and take in the view :) .

There was so much cacti!  And they were so big!!  I had always thought cacti that big was rare and was only really seen in the movies.  They were everywhere!  It was amazing.

Yeah, so I really wanted to touch a cactus needle, lol.  … it really was just like a sewing needle… smooth and long, but really really sharp on the end :P .  Fun stuff.  Also, apparently it only rains in Arizona a couple of weeks out of the year.  It looked like rain on the last day we were there.  I’m not sure whether to be flattered or bummed with our bad luck X_x, lol.
