We Got the House!

December 12, 2009 at 9:31 am (Life) (, )

It’s final.  John and I just put in the application deposit and down payment for the house!  In addition, the entire interior of the place is repainted in my favorite green and beige color scheme and the hedges are trimmed.  This house is so cute… it’s what Sarah likes to call the “newly married” house, lol.   Yaaaay!!!   I’m so excited.  We ran into a little craziness when we found out that the move in day was the day after John’s older sister’s wedding, but it’s all sorted out now.  I’m so excited.  We’ve even got furniture lined up, a bunch of dishes… I really hope either Michael or Ryan can live with us though.  May 16 here we come!

Oh How I Wish I Had the Swine Flu

September 27, 2009 at 4:20 am (Life) (, )

I have the flu.  Brilliant.

It started out with just a sore throat… then I got the aches and pains, the shortness of breath, not having the energy to walk from class to class… … then came the coughing, the sneezing, the head and nasel congestion, the “wtf, I feel my ribs are going to crack if I keep coughing”, then the fever and waking up in the middle of the night shivering and sweating up a storm.

I’m not sure if it’s the swine flu or not.  Actually, I hope it’s the swine flu.  With all the hype on the news about, they made it into a much bigger thing than it is.  It’s easier to catch since it’s a new strand, but it’s a much milder version of the flu.  Most people have symptoms for a day and then are fine.  The regular flu lasts longer and is more severe.  Unfortunately, I think I just have the regular flu, but at least I have John to take care of me.  He’s been such a sweetie … getting me food, drinks, tissue to blow my nose, cough drops and chapstick… I love my John ^_^.

But it’s all good.  I think I’m finally on the recovery side.  It’s been a few days of torture, but I think I’m finally getting better.  As long as a I get better before Tuesday…Grace Hopper Conference in Tucson, Arizona!!!.  SO excited.

Thursdays = *Sigh*

September 3, 2009 at 6:19 am (Class, Life) (, )

Thursdays are my most exhausting days of the week.  Every Thursday, I wake up at 8:30 to shower, get ready for the day, eat a brunch and then head off to work.  From there I have a series of classes, work, and meetings until 9:00p (and no time for lunch).  It doesn’t help that the last thing on my list is a lab from 6:00p – 9:00p.  :S …. meh.

It’s actually not to hard to get a decent schedule and not have to deal with this problem.  However, when you start having to take a lot of classes with recitations and labs, your schedule gets filled pretty quickly.  My advice?  Don’t take two CS courses and a lab science all in the same semester if you can avoid it.  It’s hard for me because I’m at that awkward credit hour point where I’m slightly behind my entering class (not all of my college credits transfered) so I get shafted during registration.  But no worries.  At least I have my wonderful John to make me dinner for when I get home so late ^_^.  Chicken omelets tonight!  lol.  I <3 my John  <333

Getting my Engagement Ring Re-sized!! <333

September 2, 2009 at 3:28 pm (Life) (, )

It’s took us a while, but we’re finally getting my ring re-sized!!  (We’re not getting married until after we graduate, so there’s no rush… but it’s still exciting!! ^_^ <3)  After looking around online, we found this cute little place in Decatur called Alexia’s Gallery that looked good, had reasonable prices, and had a lot of great reviews.  So, we tried it.

Corinne, the owner of Alexia’s Gallery, was such a sweetheart.  She really knew her gems and jewelry!  After taking some measurements, we found out that my 6 and 3/4 sized ring (It’s John’s family ring) needed to be re-sized down to a 4, haha :P . It takes about a week, and then we can pick it up.

It feels so weird now not having it with me right now.  I can’t wait until next Friday!!! ^_^

District 9

August 29, 2009 at 10:29 am (Life, Misc.) (, )

John and I went to see District 9 in the theater today.  Being a busy, broke college student, it’s nice being able to go see a movie every once in a while (having a fiance who can pay for the movie tickets is nice too, lol :P jk jk).  Anyhoo, the movie was pretty awesome.  Honestly, I didn’t think much of it when first watching the commercials, but John had really REALLY been wanting to see it.  The commercials and website made it look very… documentary-style, but the movie turned out to be just the right balance between documentary and action movie.  Also, there are some pretty cool story spins.  I wasn’t completely fond of the end, but it was kind of cute :) .
