Oh registration.
Ummm.. okay. X_x … Yeah, so the schedule I wanted is nowhere near what I ended up getting. The classes I wanted just filled up way to quickly! To all the prospective students out there, this is where transfer credits come in handy. If you can get slightly ahead of your group, you can register before them and get the classes you want. However, some of my college classes I took in high school didn’t transfer, so I’m slightly behind in credit hours compared to my incoming class and the fact that they can register a full day before me is killing me. I need the same classes, but they get to go first. I mean, it’s my fault. I’m behind. I should have taken more hours in previous semesters to make up for things… and the 6 credit hours I got from taking classes in Spain over the summer don’t transfer until after spring registration. …. grrr
Pictured LEFT: Schedule I wanted…

Pictured RIGHT: Schedule I may end up having (filled with classes that don’t necessarily do me any good… except for free electives)…. and just as a side note, but of them are missing about 4 hours worth of film screenings X_x
BTW, using FREE schedulers such as http://troybrant.net/reg/schedule.php or http://schedule.shtylman.com/app.php?term=201002 are aMAzing. They really helped me in the planning… even if I couldn’t get all the classes I wanted :S
*sign * … I set up a meeting with my adviser (CM has a really good adviser; <3 her ^_^) so hopefully that helps. I also put in some overrides, so … there’s still time to fix it

I so grateful Tech gives us a Fall Break. Even if it’s just two extra days, it really helps with all the homework pile-up and tests coming up and projects to work on and presentations to perfect. Plus, being gone since Tuesday afternoon is a lot to make up and study on your own. I absolutely love the Grace Hopper Conference and have no regrets about going… but wow… that hw/study pile IS kind of scary. Where. To. Start X_x

For all of you video game fanatics, no, I’m not referring to the shooter video game. I mean the program builder environment… meh.
In my “Constructing a Moving Image” class today, we just started incorporating our Maya files with Unreal Tournament. It was crazy. For a program that was used in the production of games such as the Gears of War, you’d think it’d be more reliable and user friendly! Just maneuvering around the environment takes some getting used to. It’s also super picky about how many polygons are in your Maya object, so you can’t really get to fancy. Also, apparently it’s not to mac friendly… I guess it’s time to bring out the old Dell! Oh well, hopefully it gets better. Today was just the first day!

Thursdays are my most exhausting days of the week. Every Thursday, I wake up at 8:30 to shower, get ready for the day, eat a brunch and then head off to work. From there I have a series of classes, work, and meetings until 9:00p (and no time for lunch). It doesn’t help that the last thing on my list is a lab from 6:00p – 9:00p. :S …. meh.
It’s actually not to hard to get a decent schedule and not have to deal with this problem. However, when you start having to take a lot of classes with recitations and labs, your schedule gets filled pretty quickly. My advice? Don’t take two CS courses and a lab science all in the same semester if you can avoid it. It’s hard for me because I’m at that awkward credit hour point where I’m slightly behind my entering class (not all of my college credits transfered) so I get shafted during registration. But no worries. At least I have my wonderful John to make me dinner for when I get home so late ^_^. Chicken omelets tonight! lol. I <3 my John <333

One of my responsibilities as a College of Computing mentor is to help out with the freshman leap class CS 1100 and CM GT 1000. Today, they’re having a scavenger hunt kind of thing. All of the mentors are stationed at various buildings around campus. The freshman have the list of buildings and a map and they have one hour (3p-4p) to try and find us (we have big colorful balloons so I don’t see how they can miss us ^_^). If they have all of there members present, we mentors give them a signed note to award a certain amout of points. The group with the most points at the end wins a free dinner! As of now it’s 3:22p and I’ve only had one group come in. My girls need to pick it up! jk jk

One of my new classes this semester is LCC 2730 – Constructing the Moving Image. Right now, we’re learning the basics of Autodesk Maya, a 3D rendering software. Pixar has used this software in making animated films such as Shrek and Monsters verses Aliens. I think I’m in love <3 <3 ^_^ <3 <3.

I look around online and the price range for Autodesk Maya was somewhere between $2000 and $4000!!
I wish I had money
